Spirit Eagle Youth Group


QVFC seeks to develop and provide solutions to the challenges
faced by urban Aboriginal youth between the age of 15-24 years of age* in
the Fort Qu’Appelle area. Youth programming is gererally offered Monday through
Friday evenings. A nutrious meal is usually provided to the 15-24 year olds on
Tuesday and Thursday night(youth who are registered with youth program and
who attend the Centre before 5pm on those program days. A variety
of activities are planned by the Youth Program staff and the youth
themselves. All youth (10-29 years old) are welcome to attend on Monday,
Wednesday and Friday evenings to surf the net, work out with weights (no one
under 15 in weight room), and watch and movie or hang out. Some activities
are also planned and carried out in partnership with the local community
high school. Regular programming is as follows:

Monday - 4:00 - 10:00 (Drop-in for all youth);
Tuesday - 4:00 - 10:00 (Youth group ages 15-24);
Wednesday - 4:00 - 10:00 (Drop-in for all youth);
Thursday - 4:00 - 10:00 (Youth Group ages 15-24)
Friday - 4:30 - 10:00 (Drop-in for all youth)
9:00 - 12:00am (Open Gym - most Fridays - at High School 15+).

There is also a special hip-hop dance program for youth interested in
practicing their moves. Contact the Centre for more info. We also have
special outings on a regular basis (ex. trips to Regina -
wonderland amusement centre, paintball, lazertag, rap wars (rap battles and
breakdance competitions, night bowling, etc.) Sometimes events are open to
all youth.

* UMAYC is designed to focus primarily on 15-24 year old urban Aboriginal
youth. However, there are times/events which are held that are suitable for
as 10 and as old as 29 year of age.
